INDOOR MARKET SET TO SHUT |
|
|
Traders have reacted angrily to news that Lancaster City Council is considering closing the city’s indoor market. Following an annual loss of £495,000 the council has said that the market does not represent value for money for the local tax payer. More than thirty businesses and around 100 employees will be affected by the decision.

The latest opinion polls don’t make good reading for the Conservative Party, but DLIB Chairman Frank McKenna thinks that David Cameron will still be the next Prime Minister.

WHAT’S THE STOREY? |

The city’s new look Storey Institute hosted its inaugural public open day recently, showing off a £4 million refurbishment that was funded by Lancaster City Council, the Arts Council and the Northwest Development Agency. The revamped venue boasts an excellent bar/restaurant area and first class meeting rooms.

BOOTHS SET TO EXPAND |
|
|
Lancashire supermarket chain Booths has unveiled plans for a new store in Stopforth that will be twice the size of its existing facility in Lancaster. Development Consultant Robert Pinkus said that the development had been met with a “very positive response” from local residents.
